S.T.E. (Structure
and Transport Engineering) srl, is an Engineering Company,
established in Rome in 1980 by a group of freelance engineers
with many years experience in infrastructure and civil
engineering design.
S.T.E. provides a wide
range of services: feasibility and environmental impact studies,
road safety researches (crash-tests) in addition to the core
business which is roads, road structures and civil transport systems
design.
S.T.E. has always been
renowned for the high quality and technological level of the
services provided. An example, relevant to the road safety sector,
is the study, organization and management of the Anagni crash-test
plant which, thanks to the financial commitment of Società
Autostrade Spa and several other non- governmental sponsors, has
carried out tests on many types of concrete and steel safety
barriers from 1986 to 1994. This research has led to industries in
the sector manufacturing technologically advanced products and made
it possible for S.T.E. to qualify as Italian leader in this sector.
S.T.E. has had a similar
importance in the design of road and associated structures that has
led to them being awarded contracts by the public sector,
Concessionaires (1), the most important Italian Private Engineering
Companies (2) and many Italian building companies (3).
In just the last decade,
S.T.E. has carried out work amounting to more than 10,000 million
Euros of which the most important are listed below:
- Rome Orbital (G.R.A.)
- Section from the river Tiber and Pisana,
- several sections of
the High Speed Railway between Rome and Naples and Verona and Venice,
- SS 8 “Via del Mare” (Rome),
- SS 28 alternative
route of Pontedassio,
- several section of the
Motorway between Salerno and Reggio Calabria,
- SS 156 “Monti Lepini”
section between Prossedi and Latina,
- the Freeway to San
Giovanni Rotondo,
- the connection route
between A1-A14 Motorways (between San Vittore and Termoli)
- maxilots No. 2 and No.
3 of the Motorway between Salerno and Reggio Calabria,
- A24 Motorway Rome-L'Aquila-Teramo
and at present S.T.E. is
carrying out the predesign of the “Corridoio Tirrenico”, from
Rosignano to Grosseto (Tuscany) in cooperation with SPEA Spa.
In February 2000, S.T.E.
was awarded the Certificate of Quality UNI EN ISO 9001:94 for civil
transport engineering projects and in 2003 a similar award UNI EN
ISO 9001:2000 concerning the design and management of civil and
transport engineering work.
